Well just done one, and its fine now.. But 20 minutes ago was 12mb.. Its such ropey connection.

i bought a new router and tried everything before we ended up getting a new modem

I plan to do that, its only right. I don't think BT do 1MB?//2MB connection? So they will have to work a price out between or say CYAAAA! But im sure Grandparents paid for the BTHomeHub thing?

hey mate i used to work as an installer for virgin. open up the modem and disconnect some wires so it wont work then put it back together, then phone them up and if they cant get it working over the phone you will get a swap for free as virgin own the gear.
you will need a new modem to get any decent speed, ntl ones are pretty poor tbh

Do i believe you or not?  , haha don't know if to or not! Worth a shot though i guess... I'll try ring them to get 1 1st, if say no.. Ill take cables out and be like Y0! Its broken..

Upto 20mb standard line. Most I EVER get on torrents are 800kb/s, never seen ~4mb in it's life, complained to them before, they either admit they restrict it. Or deny completely!

they will send a tech round to see what's wrong and 90% of the time they just replace the modem cos there lazy lol
check all the connection from the modem to the box outside are all tight as you might have leak

Anyone ever noticed that UK's upload speed sucks? Then you look at USA, they have 20mb, but have a upload of like 10mb..

Yeah, well most telephone lines are controlled by BT anyway, so even if you go with Tiscali, or another third party company you get the shit upload speeds of BT. But with Cable companies it is abit strange, but most people are oblivious to the fact that you need a good upload speed to get a good download speed though.

Exactly! Apprently, XBOX 360 + All consoles, use Upload for connection, so could have 100mb download and 1mb Upload.. and have crap connection, its all about Upload on consoles apprently?, but hardly play now so couldn't care.. Just annoying how ropey my connection is..
I have to reset Router + Modem every 1 hour or so.. And it freezes.. or goes REALLY SLOW!..

Yeah hence why you never get your lines full potential. If you have a torrent going at a very fast speed restrict your upload to 0kb/s and the download speed should go down

Yeah it's worse for games using Port2Port, as one person who has a poor connection and everyones game is ruined!
Thats sounds to me like a wank modem tbh mate.
