Source a Valeo clutch kit (eGhey etc.) and take it to them or shop around for other quotes from garages. Labour should be around 1 1/2 hours so price varies on how much the bastards charge.
Good luck dude

They sound like cowboys or just have pretty remedial skills with a tool kit mate lol.
Clutch kits cost around 80+ if you go with the above mentioned but it might be worth looking outside of the area a bit and comparing quotes there.

If thats all in using decent parts and not second hand refurb shiz then that aint too bad as the new clutch should last 40k+....if it aint abused

its expensive because they have to take a fair bit of stuff of just to get to it. And a gearbox is heavy

Where i work, they say about 4 hours to do a clutch, its because of what you actually have to do. Take battery out, undo engine mounts, undo gearbox itself, take it out, not the lightest of things in the world, then take clutch out, put new one in and realign it and put it all back together, sometimes you have to drop subrame, undo lower arms etc. Lots of work involved, had one in and out in 90 mins before though. That was a ford though. Did flywheel and slave on focus today, was over a grand bill

as said shouldnt take 4 hours, took me 5 to do mine when some mates done it, but that was because we chatted alot, had problems with 2 of the bolts not coming out, waited half hour for a mate to turn up with a blow torch to try get the bolts out, still couldnt, so got angle grinder on them, then went to b n q to get new bolts
one hell of a fuck around rolf
